IT521 assignment

I am not really a techno savvy person, though I tried blogging (just little bit) during summers. I have absolutely no background in computer related stuff, it was quite interesting to explore and figure out how things are posted online.

I did following steps in order to create a HTML code to post it on VolSpace:

1. I went to VolSpace to see what it is and how it works.

2. Sooner I realised that I need to have a UNIX account in order to use VolSpace.

3. Then, before registering myself for a UNIX account, I watched a demo video at OIT website. It was helpful, though was a simple one.

4. After I finished off registering myself, I got a message that it takes 2 hours to complete the process of registeration and I can post anything after that duration.

5. Hence, I started working on something else (as I was waiting for a couple of hours to pass-on).

6. I was preoccupied with my packing, moving, and then unpacking my whole stuff as I moved to a new apartment. Phew! I could really work over the weekend. So, finally I sat down on monday afternoon to finish up this assignment! Before starting HTML, I was curious to see how to post on VolSpace. SO, I tried to post/upload a pdf file as a tester and it worked great!

7. I started with looking at HTML basic tutorials and coding online (I just googled HTML basics and I got plenty of results).

8. Initially, I had issues with saving codes on Notepad in .htm or .html file. I was not able to open the test files myself. So, I googled it and found the same steps againa nd again as I was going. I was writing HTML codes (basic) on notepad and then saving the code using 'Save As' with a file extension of .htm

9. After writing the code, I saved it with .htm extension

10. Finally I logged in at VolSpace and uploaded my file!
